根据《牛津辞典》，whataboutism 为 'the technique or practice of responding to an accusation or difficult question by making a counter-accusation or raising a different issue'，一种技巧与行为。-ism 不能一味理解为“思想，主义”，逻辑学尤为如此，例如 syllogism，三段论，sophism，诡辩的论点。 — XComhghall talk 2021年8月26日 (四) 16:19 (UTC)
