天鹅座BI是一颗慢不规则变星,被归类为Lc型,一颗不规则的超巨星。 它的亮度极值在星等8.4和9.9等之间变化[2]。其光变曲线的频率分析显示没有显著的周期[10]

天鹅座BI是已知最大的恒星之一,基于3,575K的有效温度和226,000 L,其半径大约是1,240 R[4]。最近的研究得出的亮度较低,低于 130,000 L,建议其初始量质为20 M,因此半径值也较低[11][12][7]
